Today, in Martinsville, VA, Barack Obama promised to bring millions of union jobs through alternative energy. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't part of the reason for alternative energy to find cheaper alternatives?! I can't think of a more efficient way to destroy this budding industry than to unionize it from the start.
Unionizing the alternative energy industry sounds more like a scheme from oil companies than an idea to help the new ideas gain a foothold. There's no better way to crush your competition than making their work force unionize.
We can look forward to a future where OPEC no longer cuts our supplies, but instead our own countrymen get to victimize the consumer with endless strikes and undeserving pay hikes. If a completely unionized energy sector is the alternative energy source, then please give me oil any day over the alternative.

I was reading that at some of the GM plants that were downsizing last year, janitors were paid $26/hour. Why would anyone go to college and try to get an engineering degree when all you have to learn to do is push a broom to make a middle class living? Forget about health care costs making our companies non-competitive.
